Advantages of Deep Drawing

Compared to screw machines, plastic extrusions, tubing and stampings, Kuber deep-drawing techniques offer many benefits: Starting with flat stock and ending with a tubular part, this process minimizes material waste.

  • Superior part-to-part and batch-to-batch repeatability are assured.
  • Slitting, flaring and hole punching, normally considered secondary operations, can be performed on the drawing machine.
  • Intricate designs not previously possible can be produced.
  • Raw material is work hardened during the drawing process, therefore eliminating the need for secondary heat treating on most finished parts.

Starting stock can be clad or pre-plated with gold prior to the deep-draw process, guaranteeing even coverage of gold on both the OD & ID of microminiature tubes with or without a closed end as small as 0.005" (0.13mm) ID. This process also eliminates the threat of residual acid trapped in the parts, a type of contamination that is commonly found in the barrel plating process.

Coupled with our advanced in-house carbide die making facilities, our drawing machines enable us to produce parts in more sizes, and with significantly superior tolerances and finishes, in comparison to competing processes.

Deep Drawing Process

Deep drawing is put a metal sheet or stainless steel plate on the mold, through place force it will deform the sheet metal material homogeneous. Depth drawn is a metal forming technology. Most punching and blanking technology through drawn or press let the material deformation to get what we wanted dimensions.

  • When the product formed is deeper than half its diameter during stamping, we called deep drawing.
  • During the pull process of depth drawing, the same dimension of the part can’t get required depth through one time drawn, most times to achieve what we required dimensions, we should press a few times. During drawing, the material flow from top to bottom and change the thickness of the part.
  • Deep drawing the cold metal or cold sheet metal we called deep drawn. if we heat the material to melting point then draw to requirement depth, it is another technology-metal forging. Some times in order to draw more smoothly, we heat the material below their melting point, but it do not affect their organization structure, it is another kind of deep drawing.
  • Stainless steel drawing some times only one time can not meet as you required dimension. It should draw many times, each drawing the stainless steel drawing part will become more rigid, then you should anneal the stainless steel drawn material to your required hardness, and draw it again.

How Our Deep-Drawn Process Works

Deep drawing creates a seamless effect on metal, allowing for the creation of a smooth, curved edge. Deep drawn metal parts are created using a single metal blank, not a repeated course of metal blanks as is typically the case with traditional metal stamping. Examples of deep drawn metal parts are baking and muffin pans, aluminum cans, light reflectors, jet engine components and automobile oil filters. Starting with a metal blank, the disc of metal cut from a larger sheet is pushed into a cavity around a die, which begins the deep drawn process of drawing the blank into the desired shape. This is completed in gradual steps to ensure an even distribution of the metal across the final shape, which is important for preserving the integrity and strength of the finalised deep-drawn component.
